EXCHANGE As you sit comfortably in a soft chair while reading The Power, with home- work on your knees, a snack on the left and 'fCuster's First and Last Standw on television, you think of all the pleasures your yearbook subscription entitles you to, including this column. I am deeply indebted to my fan mail writers, for without the backs of their envelopes, I couldn't have written this humble arti- cle. It's not that we're poverty stricken in our fifth floor retreat, but the backs of said envelopes are convenient during a French or English period when you start doing an article you didnlt do the night before. God knows, I don't want that Zi:H:of- V Editor on my neck dis- turbing me during Activity period when I do my French and English Kes, Gabe and the Brothers will have to ge up quite early to beat yours truly To change the topic this -Xcademys O K Of course I could suggest a few changes First of all I would get rid of the oboes in the music room Their clamor makes it hard to sleep in class Secondlv I would do away with the liters in the Physics class INot that we don t appreciate man s best friend but a school is no place for puppies fGet lt? litter liter yuk yukj These last remarks were written on the basis of excerpts from The Blue Jug Brooklyn Prep Please voice all unfavor able comments to that publication since it was they who incited me to the previ on deplorable lack of enrollment in school activities. This as you well know, is also quite true in Power. Of course, the practice of preaching join Activi- ties all the time gets monotonous, but face facts sooner or later. Powerites have a heritage to fulfill when we attend our school. Through the years Powerites have won athletic awards, debate honors, scholastic med- als, etc. This was not because they took the attitude HLet someone else do it, they had the Ngo-Power to accomplish things themselves. If you are a good speaker or believe you have potentiali- ties, join Debate. If you can write or approach what passes for tblushj writ- ing Join the Press If you are an ath lete try out for some team Theres nothing wrong with being an all around UY you have to We lNow we ll put aside the serious con tent and approach more humorous sub jects If it doesnt offend our scholars de Latinum I will allow The Red Owl of St John s Prep to show everyone else how easy Latin can be Please try to translate Lucit villi erdigo Fortibus es in ero Onobile de is trux X adis in em? No! Well, hurry to the office and pick up a transfer. They're flying all over the place right now. There is some Latin teacher down there running around like crazy handing them out to guys who get their Caesar wrong. In case that passage seems difficult to the instructors, pupils, etc., we'll try again. 'iLookit, Billy, there they go. Forty buses in a row. Oh no Billy, they is trucks. What is in them?
