T e Powe News of the Year ln Revlew THE PARADE Two Hundred F lfty Powermen March Proudly Up 5th Ave A very soul was nn St Pat s Day The weather was behavmg m true form, there was not a somber nor a sllent patch of terrltory throughout thls c1ty of elght m1ll1on people, and the Academy made lts tradltlonal grand ramble down Erxn s own Flfth Avenue Of the fifty two Mondays that come thls year, only one was not blue, and that was the seventeenth Farth twas emerald green' Provlded wxth proper school lI'lSlgI1aC and of course a shamrock or two our Semor year llned up at forty seventh street, holdmg thelr ears and shoutmg to one another whrlst four bands rn the nearby area spent thelr tlme tumng up Soon thmgs got more organ1zed Our Band showed up ln full regaha and let parade watchers hear Must what a real muslcal organlzatlon sounds hke They paraded before us and smartly turned the corner to proceed up Flfth Cardlnal Spellman, surrounded by throngs of prlests monslgnorx and blshops revlewed us wrth admrratron as we passed the Cathedral and the com mand Eyes Rxght was grven by Brother Hennessy At sxxty frfth we ambled by the of f1c1al revrewmg stand wrth an Eyes Left' command of respect to all the lmportant drgnltarles there From trme to tlme the Joy of the day was shattered m some poor Brothers ear as a pohte spectator would doff hrs hat and cry Afternoon Father Tralmng The last perlods of the few days be fore the Parade were used by the march ers as practlce trme wh1ch took place for several hours both 1n the yard and on Snrtreth Street speclallv blocked to 'The Band played Insh Melodies Bugle Boy The Thunderer Semper Fldelxs and the Washlngton Post March March 26 1952 traffic for the occasnon by the Pohce Dept A few formatlons here and there were strarghtened and the secret of turn mg a corner was explamed before the dress rehearsal late m the afternoon of March 14 Brother Hennessy gave them a fmal revlew told them when and where to meet and then dxsmlssed them Then Monday came, and Monday mght came and 250 palrs of feet soaked 1n 250 baslns of hot water mxxed wlth a favor1te solutron Boy they were tlred, but our Senlors would always remember the1r last magnrfrcant St Patrlck s Day at Power Memorral March 26 1952 College Info Tlme Runnlng Out Attentzon Seniors!
