I 3-73.7S n M e m 0 r • 1 a m V ' 7 El Through the years we are privileged to know a few indi- viduals who are unique. We knew one such individual. He was an excellent teacher, cajoling, encouraging, and lead- ing. He was a warm, gentle friend, joking, smiling, and offering a helpful hand when it was needed. He was a respected community leader, a member of several boards of directors. He was a loving husband and father, proud of his family and of his family of students. He was a practic- ing Christian, a man of his word. He was compassionate and understanding. We miss his laughter in the classroom, his prayer at faculty gatherings, and his cheerfulness in the halls and teachers’ lounges; but we will warm ourselves with pleasant memories which we will always carry in our hearts. We knew Rexall Harold Carnes. REXALL HAROLD CARNES Student Government President Donna Elkins and George Roat present the portrait of Mr. Carnes to Mr. Lester. 2

THE CIRCLE GAME Yesterday a child came out to wonder Caught a dragonfly inside a jar Fearful when the sky was full of thunder And tearful at the falling of a star Then the child moved ten times round the seasons Skated over ten clear frozen streams Words like, when you’re older, must appease him And promises of someday make his dreams And the seasons they go round and round And the painted ponies go up and down We’re captive on the carousel of time We can’t return we can only look behind From where we came And go round and round and round In the circle game. Yes, I’m in love.” What if we don’t feel like playing?” Let’s play Trip the Crip.’ I vant to drink your blood, please.’ Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun . . .
