a day in the life of a teacher Early to bed(??) and early to rise . . . early to rise anyway . . . early to school . . . sign in, yawning (too many papers graded last night?) . . . talk, talk, talk . . . discussing lessons, classes, students, world events, and personal, everyday problems. The bell rings for first period and an eager class awaits the day ' s lesson. Second period rolls around . . . the educator feels hunger pangs just like the student! Third period drags . . . finally, lunch ... a refreshing pause in a busy schedule . . . entertaining and serious talk over good food. Fourth period passes . . . then fifth and sixth are, gone forever. The teacher walks down the hall, now empty of students . . . heads toward the office ... I wonder if ... I wonder ... I wonder . . . The teacher reflects the day ' s events, good and bad . . . tear of failure . . . deep desire for success . . . self-confidence . . . Sign out . . . maybe after school duties . . . PTA . . . papers to grade . . . lessons to prepare . . . some TV . ... finally sleep, and a very well-earned rest. High level conference between Mr. Horton and Mr..
