CH CLASS HISTORY e9o 10-B0 The senior class of 1938 is the outgrowth of about forty beginners who in the fall of 1934 started as fresh- men. Today our class has nineteen boys and seventeen girls. Through the years we have gained a number of students from surrounding schools. Some additions this year are Dorothy Pierce, from Lafollette, and Nellie Collins, from Tazewell. We have gained others through the years and lost several, but, in spite of all this, there are more boys in our class than girls. This class has contributed to school activities by having such athletes as Glenn Needham and August Hadorn, of the boys' sports, and Trula Arnold and Mary Lewis of the girls' basketball team. We have shared in all the activ- ities of the school. The two seniors who have received outstanding honors are Frances Bell, who won the name of Miss Powell High School and a free trip to Nashville, and Carrye Loden, who has the highest average in the sen- ior class. We have also had our moments of pleasure and fun. High lights have been basketball tournaments, the trip to Smoky Mountains, the Iunior-Senior Banquets, and class plays. We can truly say that we have had four happy years in school together in spite of hard lessons, examinations and other things which go with an education. Today we say Finis to the history of the senior class with the sincere hope that larger and better vol- umes will appear later, telling of the future achieve- ments of the class of 1938.
