Barbara Hart, Martha Strong, Lorraine Sutherland, and Anna Avis made cardboard caricature drawings of each member of the team, which were used to decorate the gynn. 1949 also saw the first Homecoming in Powell. Our attendant to Queen Donna George was Martha Strong. Kenny Dooley, president, Martha Strong, vice-president, Karen Singer, secretary, and Janet Edmonds, treasurer, were officers for our junior class. Many important events occurred in 1950-1951. The new football field and the new electric scorboard were dedicated. The class of '52 presented Green Grow the Lilacs, starring Harold Wynn, Barbara Hart, Georgia Lynn, Burton Carlson, Don Fleming, Maxine Morris and George Brow, with a supporting cast of ten. We selected our rings, the crest of which is featured on the Panther '52 cover. The Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom followed the Indian Surnmer motif Brother and sister Dona and Harold Farmer were chosen to reign as our Princess and Chieftain One of the events which will be long remembered is the day the seniors took their Sneak Day and we Juniors decided to take a vacation also Nearly the whole class participated in this spur of the moment idea with the result being an extra day of school f r all of those 'hookey players 1952 was our all important year Although it took the whole year to make it valid the class officers finally chosen for this year were Don Collins as president Janet Royer as vice president Douglas Hunter as secretary and Kay Jameson as treasurer Janet Edmonds with Lorraine Sutherland as Senior attendant reigned as Queen of the Homecoming game with Greybull The contest ended in a tie which was played off by the California method This was the shortest football game and the longest resulting time out period Q10 daysj ever played in the Big Horn Basin with the opponent coming out on top by a yard and a half On November 26 w girls dressed in heels hats and gloves and were entertained by the PEO women at an annual tea The Doctor in Spite of Himself ' by Molere was the choice for our senior play This farce comedy was presented under the direction of Gordon Wickstrom on April 17 and 18 with a cast of eleven As a token of farewell we were honored at the Junior Senior Banquet and Prom in the early part of May All seniors attended Baccalaureate on May 18 and on May 22 we received our diplomas and of ficially finished our high school career :2Ez::s-as -ii 22 ' i I . . . . . ,, 9 0 I - .ll I I - I , . i I 1 9 1 ' ll ' ' ' I it 05 X 1 , , 'K ' I 'ff -I . - . . tr 'I Q f 1 w , I Al. 1 ,rv I .Q , Ar 'V V 1 4 ' .-.----Y. -S' ,f ' f f . They won 7, lost Z, and tied 1 out of 10 games played. The Pan- thers, with their 7 wins, took second in the Big Horn Basin Conference POWELL OPPOSITION 6 Laurel 6 6 Worland Z7 50 Basin 0 31 Lander 13 Z8 Thermopolis 0 2.0 Lovell 19 19 Cody 13 Z7 Riverton 13 0 Greybull 2 Greybull was chosen as the Homecoming game and the Buffs held the Panthers to a 0-0 tie during the downpour of rain. After the game was over the officials found that the Big Horn Basin Conference rules state that no Big Horn Basin football Conference game can end in a tie and if there is a tie at the end of playing time their is to be a California playoff to deter- mine which team is the winner. So 10 days later the Powell Panthers once again met the Greybull Buffs on the Panther field. Each team got four downs alternating with the other team. Powell pushed deep into the Greybull territory on the first four downs when the Buffs on their last down assed the ball well into the Panther territory, Powell then ran the ball all but l 1 2 yards back to the 50 yard line. Thus Powell lost to the Buffs by a score of Z-O. With this second loss against the Panthers, Powell tied Greybull in the Big Horn Basin Conference for second place. 44 I Qi b i E MINUTES SECONDS HOME VISITUR DUWN TU BU li...
