It is with our appreciation for his service that we co-dedicate this annual to Mr. Fordice. He has driven bus for eleven years and has worked in the new grade school as custodian for four years. FOOTBALL ACTION SENIOR PLAYERS Keith White Ken Nave Milton Gorham Award All Star Defensive League Team Co-Most Valuable Player Graham Drug Store La Grande, Oregon The 1966 Badgers Football Team was a success in a number of ways. To begin the season 24 boys greeted head coach Tom Neel. This was the largest turnout for the pigskin sport in many years. The enthusiasm of all team members was evident in the first game played against the Harper Hornets in the Little Brown Jug Jamboree . The Badgers repelled the Hornets 12-6 to carry home their first jamboree trophy since 1962. Ken Nave and Elmer Hill District All-Star Defensive Team. The Badgers continued to play fine football as they steamrolled their first four opponents, then injuries to key players began to take their toll. Keith Flower, Elmer Hill and Bruce Cul- ver all missed some action. If the in- jury bug had stayed away North Powder could have possibly marched to one of its finest seasons. Mr. Records, Coach; G. Lewis, B. Henderson, L. Umpleby, P. Pearson, K. White, J. Davis, B. Culver, K. Nave, N. Chamberlain, B. Blais; Mr. Neel, Coach. Managers, D. Stubbs and K. Culver. VARSITY BASKETBALL The 1966-67 Basketball Badgers fielded for the second year in a row a young and green team. However, what the boys lacked in experience they made up for in desire and hustle. The Badgers will have the nucleus to form a good team next year with nine Varsity eagers returning. The eagers presented Coach Neel with their first victory in the league Jam- boree since 1963 in their first game of the season. After that victories were farther apart. The highlight of the season was the teams thrilling victory in overtime against Richland in the final game of the season. Bruce Culver was the leading scorer with 11.2 points per contest. Neal Chamberlain was the second high scorer with an average of 7-2 points a game. Culver was also the leading rebounder for the team. Seniors were Captain Ken Nave, Keith White, and Lyle Umpleby. Denny Nave and Ron Calloway, two promis- ing Sophs were brought up to the Varsity near the end of the season. The annual Basketball trophies went to the follow- ing; MOST IMPROVED-Lyle Um- pleby and Keith White; MOST INSPIRATIONAL-Ken Nave; BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER-Ken Nave; BEST REBOUNDER-Bruce Culver. 32 Back Row: Mr. Neel, Coach; S. JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL The Junior Varsity players had a very successful year. They showed a lot of enthusiasm and good sportsmanship and always gave one hundred per cent of their best. Although this was the first year for most of them, they showed great promise for future years and with a little more practice we will have some star athletes next year. Two outstanding players on the Junior Varsity this year were Denny Nave and Ron Calloway. Both players saw some action on the Varsity team. Don Helen's North Powder, Oregon Our two very fine coaches this year were Mr. Norman Re- cords, Junior Varsity, and Mr. Tom Neel, Varsity. Both of them did an outstanding job for the teams and the school. All the students at P.V.H.S. sincerely appreciate a job well done and look forward to an even better year next year.
