We the Senior Class of '55 will to the Juniors, our ability to save money, to the Sophomores, our ability to get along with each other, and to the Freshmen, the ability to settle down. YITTVYY On the first day of school in 51 , 21 scared, green Freshmen stood at the foot of the high school stairs trying to get nerve and strength enough to go up. Finally, everyone made the climb. Sixteen of us attended grade school here, while the other five of us were strangers from Muddy Creek. We soon became friends and elected our class officers as follows: president, Cedric Christman; vice-presi- dent, Johnny Petersen; secretary-treasurer, Alice Loennig; reporter, Janet Galligan; sargent-at-arms, Boyd Marsing. Soon afterwards, the mean sophomores initiated us, and we became fullfledged Badgers. Our carnival princess was Donna Cox, and our homecoming princess, Janet Galligan. Mr. Zike was our advisor, and we had several parties during the year. Our second year, we entered school with much confidence and eager- ness—for this year we Initiated the Frosh. We lost Marsha Abbott, Larry Johnson, and Kemet Spence as they had transferred to other schools. Mrs. Duckett was our advisor. We elected Johnny Petersen as president; Doris Healey as vice-president; Janet Galligan as secretary; Betty Saling as treasurer; Alice Loennig as reporter; and Boyd Marsing as sargent-at-arms. Our carnival princess was Alice Loennig and our football queen was Janet Galligan . We sold flower bulbs and napkins, and had lots of candy sales as the next year we would need the money. The highlight of the year was the Christmas party at Galligan's. As Juniors we started the year off by being busy as we had to roll in the dough. The class officers were: president, Boyd Marsing; vice- president, Jack Daugherty; secretary, Doris Healey; treasurer, Betty Saling; reporter, Joan Galligan. Our class advisors were Mr. Ayres and Mrs. Wright. Janis Davis and Cedric Christman transferred to other schools and Curtis Tibbs transferred from Baker giving us a sum of 17 for the year. The class, having sold the most raffle tickets for the carnival, found Joan Galligan our queen. We had a St. Patrick's Day dance in Haines, sold Christmas cards, and had a turkey raffle to raise enough money for the prom. The Junior-Senior banquet was held in the Rose Room at the Hotel Baker. The theme of our prom was Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Larry Monaghan and Anne Bond were crowned king and queen for the night. We had many expedition parties which took us into the hills. This ended a year of hard work but one of loads of fun. As we started our last year of high school there were only 16 of us as Betty Saling had left. Mrs. Osterloh and Mr. Williams were the class advisors. The class officers were president, Larry Harrison; vice-president, Cheryl Heard; secretary, Curtis Tibbs; treasurer, Belva Maxwell; sargent-at-arms, Alice Loennig. This year the seniors were busy putting the Broadcaster and annual into circulation. Curtis Tibbs left school and Lorraine Christman was elected our new secretary. The annual Senior Ball was held in December. The theme was Northern Lights. The seniors enjoyed very much the Junior-Senior banquet and prom, senior sneak, and graduation. Class Flower: Red Rose Class Colors: Red and Silver The past forever gone; The future still our own. Class Motto: IYTVTY? WTVY? We, the Senior Class of 1955 have come back to the littlest little town in the West to our beloved school to talk of our successes in life. Larry Christman reported that he had gone to work for the govern- ment as a hunter and trapper. Fame came to him after he had captured bare-handed and with the help of a lariat, a two ton Kodiac bear in the state of Alaska. We then discussed the fact that one of our class-mates, Judy, (Golden-voice) McCanse, was basically the cause for Alaska's statehood. She is a well known radio and TV commentator whose golden voice and dynamic speeches have influenced millions. Larry Harrison invited us to bring our autos and planes in anytime for a free check-up at his super-deluxe jet garage. This garage is one of the biggest in North Powder. Main attractions are the shopping cen- ter, restaurant, and airport for those who prefer the air to the free- ways . Madam Alice Anne of New York, Paris, and Mt. Caramel graciously accepted his offer as her jet liner, which she pilots herself, has a leaky fuel line. Madam Alice Anne is the world's foremost authority on fashion. She originated the now famous and fashionable NO hem-line. Lorraine Christman, secretary to the President of the United States, took notes on this get-together. She is the only secretary who can take dictation in one language and reproduce it in a choice of 30 other languages—anything from Chinese to English to Zulu. Joan Galligan, noted stage and movie actress, is the only star ever to win 10 Oscars in a row—one for each year since she left Powder Valley. She is known as the gal with 4 dimensions. Joan is now staying at the Lonely Hearts Rest Home recooperating from a nervous breakdown resulting from her fifth divorce. This world-famous rest home is maintained by those two famous nurses Belva Maxwell and Donna Cox. These two nurses are the only ones ever to receive their DN—Doctor of Nursing. J ohn Petersen gave us all a sample of his new drink—the only al- coholic drink that has no alcohol in it. He owns and runs the Red Nose Brewery which is now making its fourth million--------bottle of drink, that is. Farmer Bob Olsen fed us a sample of his new steak. He successful- ly crossed a holstein and a mule to produce the critter he called a Mulestein. There is no other meat in the world like it. His 6,000 acre farm is producing well. ie next gal we talked to is that hale and hearty Doris Healey. Doris is a cattle rancher, sticking only to her 10,000 head of hereford cattle. Those new breeds are too fancy for her. Doris says that after a good day on the range, she goes to her green house where she is de- veloping a new pickle—one with the vinegar already in it. Janet----, our former business manager, has turned housewife. She has put on a little weight, but is still the same old lovable Janet. Her seven little blonde sons are quite a chore, she says. She left them with hubby so she could make it to this get-together. We all admired Mademoiselle Cheryl's lovely hair-do. Mademoiselle Cheryl runs the omy Beauty Shop in Haines that is world famous. Great ladies from all over the world go there. One has to have an appoint- ment six-months ahead of time. She is also known for her well-liked hair-do the Rat-Tail . Boyd Marsing reported that his team, and twins, were doing fine. Boyd coached the U.S. Champion Football Team, the Powder Bird Dogs . He and his family reside in the summer on the farm in Muddy Creek. Our last class-mate to report is Black Jack Daugherty, owner of gambling casinos in all parts of the world. Black Jack made most of his money sponsoring Russian Roulette. I imagine most of his customers got a bang out of it. Jack invited us to come in anytime and play it with him. However, most of us declined because we know Jack. This ends the report of our success for the first decade since graduation. See you again in another 10 years. •-WWTW WT1 Glennabelle Maxwell President Phyllis Kirkland Vice President Iva Lee Green Secretary Dora Mae Boesch Treasure TVVIVVT BACK ROW: Pratt, Cropp, Schina, Taylor, Don Boesch, Stephens, Chand- ler, Lybecker, Jones ’ ’ MIDDLE ROW: Mrs. Newman, adviser, Crawford, Patterson, M.
