I 4.7610 On the first day of school in the fall of 49 a group of boys and girls met for the first trme as Freshmen There were twenty fxve all together with five from Muddy Creek and the remaming twenty from the North Powder School Some were strangers but we held a meeting anyway to elect our class of f1cers Alrce Healey was elected as our ftrst Presrdent Thrs was the gayest year of our careers as we had one party rrght after another Our Sophomore year found our class a lot smaller as we lost Donna Hanson Ioan Mann Darlene Weaver and Elrzaheth Marshall all who transferred to dtfferent schools Ed Hasbrook and June Thomp son dropped out at the end of the first semester We had two additions who were Janet Adarr from Jefferson and B111 Rogers from Imbler We had cooled off a lrttle from our Freshmen year and had more sales and fewer partres W1th Mr W ells and Presrdeut Kenny Fordrce to keep us gomg we had S25 ln our treasury at the end of the year We lost the two classmates we had gained as Sophomores as B111 Rogers moved to Southern Ore gon and Janet Adarr left for Albany Thrs year gave us all work and no play As Iumors we had control ofthe concesslons so wtth Kenny agarn as our Presldent we made the most of rt We had enough money by New Years to put on the Prom and Banquet so we gave the Student Body forty percent of our profrts the rest of the year Then as Aprtl rolled around we started decoratmg for the Prom We called it Orlental Gardens with the theme Tea For Two We no sooner got that over with when we dec1ded to put on a play called Rest Assured Wrth Mrss Psomas as our duector and an all Junror cast we put rt over wrth great success As Semors we fmd l1fe a llttle easter Most of the work IS along the scholastxc lme so we will be sure to graduate Our Semor Ball IS commg up soon whrch IS to be called the Snow Ball so thmgs are begmntng to hop agam Glen Nantz and Betty Coates dropped out thts year but it st1ll leaves us seventeen as Brll Stewart transferred from Baker Iackre Johnson transferred to Baker thls year Bud Jacobson rs our President rhrs year because Kermy retrred Our colors are Blue and Srlver wrth Pmk Roses as the class flower Our motto IS Make a suc cess today and you need not worry about tomorrow S U U 11 N ' . - , , , I I ' . . .. - .. .. Once a week the girls would go to one of the fixe different schools that participated in the xollevball tournaments. The last tournament was held at the Powder Valley Gym nasium. The lmbler girls came out on top- Elgin second- Powder third- Cove fourth and Union last.
