ART The Art Department's year is highlighted by the annual Art Fair. This year's event is being held at the Mercado in Rancho Bernardo. Over ZOO individual pieces of work are being shown, including a wide variety of media: sculpture, drawings, paintings, crafts, design works and ceramics. Many art students look forward to the Renaissance Fair to sell their work. This is a traditional November activity, however this year it is being held in lVlarch. In addition to a minimum number of basic courses, many specialized courses are offered, these include: drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture and jewelry. It is a welcome break from the academics for many students to attend a session in one of the art labs. Bourdette, Eric Carr, Kenneth Walker, Clay 5 gg

COMMUNICATION ARTS The Communication Arts Department of Poway High offers students a wide range of courses in the area of communication. The curriculum is balanced in all areas of literature, writing, speech, and drama. Additionally, a yearly literary magazine, IVIUSE, spotlights the best poetry and prose produced by Poway students during the previous year. The course-offerings are, for the most part, small group oriented, although occasional lectures or large group meetings are planned, wherein several classes may benefit from hearing a guest speaker or seeing a film. Freshmen, this year, are required to take English 200, which is a combination of composition and literature. The sophomores take normal 10th grade classes: oral communications and composition. Juniors and seniors, as always, enrolled in English related subjects of their choice. The department chairman this year is lVlr. Arnold Kunert. f A X A ':,:v,r::fx11,1ffv ? itEf'9: l'F11,':,, :, iw gisg '427E?li1kEiVii,:Z'f , 3 ,. f x ,WZ ty A 1 I X fy 1 K at tt ,ixtg iytfefeyls F tv 5 51 Y 1 , S Sw, 4, f ZW .Z 2, 5 F 12 Z az 7 s Q 1 m M 2 A . rff: ' , ia ' V V., ' 'Q f i,Mf1:i's ,' - ,,... . ug- V V ff,ig5me,s57f A ' ft, W Mft asf T if W fy. . we W m, 1 Heimgartner, Larry Barone, Frank Ghafur, Raheela Hafer, Joan Hitchcock, Julie Hughes, David Kunert, Arnold M lVlello, Carol Owen, Joan Poole, Bruce Schimke, Gerald Semco, Rachel Sparks, Linda Taylor, Susan Templer, Mary 78 FACULTY
