COUNSELORS The staff of the counseling department consists of six qualified and carefully chosen people. Each day, students come to these counselors with questions concerning educational and vocational plans and personal situations. The department maintains many resource materials, available for the use by students almost anytime. Many speakers from colleges, businesses, and vocational schools have come to Poway High on request of the counselors. They also sponsor the annual Career Night and Awards Night, schedule the Career Van from the County Office of Education and coordinates the Work Experience and Exploratory Work programs. HEALTH AND DRIVERS ED. DEPT. The purpose of health education was to prepare the student to understand and apply health practices to his daily life, The major aim of drivers education was to prepare the student to drive both safely and efficiently. The student was taught California driving laws as well as the laws of nature which relate to driving.
