A.F.S. The American Field Service is an organization which endeavors to bring about understanding among people of many nations by providing living and learning experiences for teen-age students. There are two programs involved in AFS. One sends nearly 1,400 American students abroad to 44 different countries each year. The other annually brings nearly 3,000 students from 61 countries to the United States. Enrica Porta and Renee Rivera are two such students who are attending Poway High School this year. Enrica is from Arcore, Italy and Renee comes from Esmeraldas, Ecuador. Activities of the AFS Club at PHS this year includes a beach party and AFS week which hosted nearly 40 other AFS foreign students from San Diego County.
