HOMECOMING The Coronation Ceremonies were held for this year's Homecoming on November 15th at 7:30 in E-99. The Junior Varsity and Varsity Football Teams were both presented at that time. lVlr. O'Drane then led the Die Lieder Singers in two outstanding vocal selections. The two AFS students, Enrica Porta and Renee Rivera were also introduced. lVlr. Zorich, master of ceremonies, then introduced Yoko Sammuli. Poway High's 1971 Homecoming Queen, and her reign officially came to an end. As each Princess was presented, the concert band played chosen selections. Representing the Freshman class were Julie Hernandez and Sue Wright. The two Sophomore princesses were Sue Ashby and Patty Gainder. Representing the Junior class were Princesses Janine Hess and Sue Thompson. The three girls vying for the title Homecoming Queen were Marla Garrison. Patti Lepper, and Debbie Tinker. Debbie Tinker was crowned Queen amid the loud applause from the enthusiastic audience. For the Poway-San Pasqual Football clash, on Friday. the PHS Band and Titanettes had a fantastic pre-game and half time show planned, however, due to the inclement weather they were unable to perform. The game was the biggest of the whole season for the fans. The guys went out and won the game with a fantastic score of 20-6. The Homecoming Dance was on Saturday. The Gym was decorated with hot-pink, white, and light pink streamers. The theme of the dance was The Days of Wine and Roses. The round tables were covered with centerpieces of wine bottles and roses. The band was lssacs People and they played on risers draped with roses. The first dance was dedicated to the Queen and her escort. The 1972 Homecoming Court are from left to right: Patti Lepper, Debbie Tinker, lVlarla Garrison, Julie Hernandez, Sue Thompson, Janine Hess. Sue Ashby. Patti Gainder, and Sue Wright.
