SPIRIT Although PHS had very few pep assemblies this year, of the ones we did have most students showed spirit and enthusiasm as well as support athletes. Shown are many of the spirited Titans who took part in one of the few pep assemblies at PHS.

it VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Cheerleading try-outs for 1972-73 were held for the first time in front of a board. The judging board consisted of some faculty members, senior varsity cheerleaders and Iettermen, When the 8 girls were chosen we were on our own to learn cheers and try and promote spirit for the coming year. We had two girls, Connie Shepard and Debbie Levins, who were new to cheerleading as a whole. Gina Pace was a cheerleader at Fairfield High School in Kansas. Janine Hesse, Subic High School in the Phillipines, Patty Berghorn, Anchor Bay High in Michigan and Great Mills High School in Maryland. Michele Malone. Candy Sexton, and Rose Stacklin were Junior Varsity cheerleaders at Poway High. Six girls having been cheerleaders before had a lot of good ideas used at other schools to make a successful squad. We attended camps in the summer at USD in Linda Vista and UCSD in LaJolla, in which we learned cheers, chants, and stunts. As a whole we had new cheers and the ability to do good mounts and stunts in our cheers. We had a big responsibility in representing Poway High and attending all sports this year. Cheerleading is fun and challenging and we hope you will remember this year as we will, TITANS ARE THE BEST, OH YES
