I I df - 4 aaaccdflcaw Poughkeepsie High School has long been renowned for its excellent academic rating and well-developed extracur- ricular activities. The latter's success has grown from a close cooperation of teachers and parents, united in an effort to solve school problems and to instill school spirit through outside activities. This close alliliation is officially termed the Parent-Teachers' Association or P.T.A. An energetic organization, the P. T. A. carries on numerous projects: operating the food stand at our home games, supplying refreshments for various school functions, such as the annual Open-House Night and Science Fairg sponsoring the Athletic Championship Dinner, presenting the honor keys to deserving seniorsg and providing transportation fares for Future Nurses and Teachers Clubs, P.T.A. members often participate as judges on Speech Day and serve as chaperones for various dances. Each year our P.T.A. supervises the Talent Show which features the rising young artists of Poughkeepsie High School. Last December, the members themselves participated in the performance, singing Kids from Bye-bye Birdie. We, the Seniors of Poughkeepsie High School, wish to complete our year on a note of gratitude to the Parent-Teachers' Association for their continued interest and assistance throughout the years. rr Our final year in P. H.S. Has slowly drifted by, Taking with it all the joys And tears of days gone by. How distant seems that Freshman year VVhen we were, oh, so new, Timid and fearful of making friends, VVary of what to do. Yet in one short year Nve were all akin. Then as days flew by Sophomore year stepped in! YVith it came work incredulousg Mlorld History made us pout, But our Soph Hop was fabulous, Of that there is no doubt! As Juniors we thought YVe were really the most, Held our prom in January: Had a right to boast! I Finally we were Seniors, Carefree in all our ways, But a little too negligent. In those few remaining days. Yes, we were Seniors, But those are days of yoreg For sooner than we realized, YVe reached our Future's door. Yet while our thoughts of graduation Carry so much weight, Let us pause and proudly say . . . Class of '61-you're great!! Jw ,Q
