DEDICA T10 MR. VAN George VanArsdale--- a man of imqnite kindness and consideration ---has devoted many years to working with and for young people as teacher, as director of activities and sponsor of student council. He started teaching at Lincoln jr. High in 1949. He taught there, at Lesherjr. High and at Fort Collins High School until Poudre opened in 1964. He was our first Director of Activities. In 1968 he went to Lincoln jr. High as Assistant Principal. He returned to Poudre in the fall of 1973 to resume his duties as Director of Activities and Student Council Sponsor. Fortified with the conviction that co-curricular activities are vital to the balanced development ofthe individual student, he has willingly given hours of his time and energies, far beyond the school day and week, to working with young people in researching, organizing and implementing a broad variety of school activities and events. As a result of his guidance of students in the dimension of activities, countless numbers of young people have learned leadership skills, unusual responsibility, and the satisfaction of participation. George has sacrificed an incredible amount of his own time and energies in his persistent desire to help young people experience a fuller, more meaningful life, and to have the opportunity during their school years to develop in personality, in character, and in perspective. George VanArsdale is a staunch advocate of youth, a tireless worker in their behalf, a friend who believes in them and their right to participate in a vitalizing spectrum of activities and events. We salute you, George Van, as a very special person who has made a very special contribution to our students and entire school.
