Vo-Tech Students Leotrn Their Respective Trotdes The Pottstown High School depart- ment of vocational education has been progressing since 1926. In 1983 ap- proximately 34'Mn of the student body were enrolled in the eight vocational shops. The shops included automotive mechanics, machine trades, electronic technology, drafting, cosmetology, small appliance repair, construction trades and maintenance, and health assistants. These courses trained the students in a cluster of knowledge and skills to prepare them for post-high school job placement. The school year 1982-83 was the first year that all the vocational shops were once again located in the high school building. The Annex was phased out because of the progressive drop in student population. Pottstown High School was one of six comprehensive high schools in Pennsylvania. As a result, students had the oppor- tunity to take college preparatory academic subjects while they were enrolled in vocational shops.
