iw ln the sprung of 1982 both the Pottstown School Drstrrct and the world of muslc suffered a great loss wrth the death of Mr WllllamF Lamb Mr Lamb born ln 1915 was brought up wrthln a musrcal ambience Hrs father was dlrector of the Pottstown Band and he bequeathed the positron to Mr Lamb In 1936 Mr Lamb contrnued wlth the band untll 1963 One year later he became the founder and director of the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra which held lts frrst performance on May 7 1964 He also became band director of the Pottstown Hugh School and concerts for twelve years up to and rncludlng 1980 when he and the band went on tour In Florrda performing at Drsney World Sea World and Clrcus World In 1980 when Illness forced hum to glve up has positron as director of the hugh school band he took on the job of super vlsor of music for the school dlstrlct for the next two years He also continued as dlrector of the Pottstown Symphony untrl has death Wrllram F Lamb s llfe was filled with accompllshments and muslcal talent He touched our lrves He rs greatly missed He has moved a llttle nearer To the Master of all muslc Longfellow S S Fr .w VV 1 My l I . .
