C.P.,s Eggs-ert Effort To Fuflfill Aspirations Pottstown High offers a challenging curriculum to the col- lege prep students. Its courses are extensive, offering majors in art and music, which help the student achieve greater sensitivity and perception. In the field of engineering, stu- dents may enroll in the college prep technical drawing or electronics courses, designed to help the student acquire a basic background in drafting. The advanced science courses, including biology, physics, and chemistry, give an indepth study in a diversity of subjects. The advanced math courses, such as independent math studies, honors calculus, and the computer courses, give students the opportunity to excel in areas of particular interest. Exacting Teachers Give Students The Business The business department meets the individual needs of stu- dents with varied abilities. The most advanced of the busi- ness courses is the secretarial. These girls become proficient in shorthand, typing, record keeping, and use of business machines, The students majoring in bookkeeping are of- fered three years of accounting. Pottstown is the only school in the area offering the third year of advanced accounting. The data processing course teaches key punch operation and computer programming. Students learn by using the com- puters and machines in the school district administration building. The clerical couse offers the general office skills. For most of the business students, high school will terminate their educationp however, the curriculum also qualifies them for acceptance in business schools and some colleges. business educatioii
