The boys-and one girl, Mary ,loan Czarick-practiced at the Brookside Country Club. Their coach, Mr. Williarn H. McCabe, demonstrated the finer points of the game: and through his efforts the team finished the season to the tune of a victory over Bridgeport, thus concluding their best cam- paign to date. The record books gave them credit for five victories and a tie against two defeats. During the season the Trojans met each of four op- ponents twice, but they obtained the most pleasure from twice defeating traditional rival, Norristown. Senior jack Bechtel was the mainstay of a squad which was made up of five seniors and seven underclass- men. The graduating members, besides Bechtel, were Paul Stofko, Wally Van Dyke, Bill Garrow, and Larry Lerch. Five players from each side participated in a typical match. ' ' xl 'I S Sufzam of Swaf For the fourth consecutive season the P. H. S. base- ball squad won the Ches-Mont League Championship. They won thirteen games and climaxed Mr. Edward Y. Cood's coaching career on an all-winning note. Pitchers Michael Kriczky and David Ricketts won all the games'-Kriczky, seven and Ricketts, six. Each pitched a no-hitter. The final game of the season also marked the end of the outstanding high school baseball careers of these two boys. When Mike pitched, Dave caught: and Mike was a fine fielder also. Both were ex- ceptional batters. Dave won the league batting champion- ship for the second year in a row. Their pitching records were unbelieveableg they limited the opposition to 34 hits in 13 games. They hurled T shutouts, and gave up 13 runs in the same number of contests. W Pottstown scored 113 runs to 13 for their opponents.
