Awards given at all-sports fete Larry Wade, president of the Pottsboro Booster Club was presented the newly named Derel Bates athletic booster of the year award at the Pottsboro All-Sports banquet. In presenting the new award, Ronny Ray cited the years Derel Bates had been active in the club taking a leading role in all its activities. Four students were presented All Around award. Receiving the awards were Robin Barrett and Nora Carettini and Mark Guilloud and Joel Thompson. Thompson and Barrett each were presented an award for academic achievement. Ray presented awards to members of the varsity football team. All-district members are Todd Arterburn, John Caudill, Gary Graley, Ricky Griffith, Mark Guilloud, Jason Marshall, Jerry Phillips, Joel Thomp- son and Kenneth Williams. Caudill, Mike Wade, and Williams were named to the all area team. Special mention was given to Arterburn, outstanding offensive lineman, Thompson and Graley, outstanding receiversg Guilloud, outstanding back, Griffith, outstanding defensive secondary and Thompson, outstanding defensive linebacker. Robin Henson was applauded as outstanding lineman. Guilloud was named most valuable player and Mike Wade was the recipient of the Jim Henderson Fighting Heart award. Wade was named all area punter. Others receiving awards were: Tony Brown, Tom Bullins, Joey Chandler, Jim Copeland, Jason Farmer, Charles Baker, Jay Gaines, Joe Hasten, Robin Henson, Eric Johnson, John Johnson, Mike Owens, Derek Pressley, Tony Thomas, Johnny Wood and manager Tim Burleson. Wood, cited as an outstanding kicker, was injured in the S8cS game and was unable to play the remainder of the season. Jon Shock was named outstanding junior varsity. Thompson was named most valuable basketball player and Guilloud received the hustle award. Coach Tim Short gave special recognition to Thompson, Guilloud and Tyson Bennett for leadership. Eddie Frye was named outstanding junior varsity player. Others receiving basketball awards were Arterburn, Scott Bates, Bennett, Bullins, Gaines, Graley, Henson, Eric Johnson, Vincent Mott, Pat Starr and Brent Taylor. Bo Jones presented awards to the boys track team consisting of Robert Anderson, Bennett, Brown, Stacy Curtis, Eddie Frye, Gaines, Guilloud, Henson, Eric Johnson, John Johnson, Marshall, Owens, Chad Patridge, Joey Reed, Thompson, Jason Vest, Wade, Kenneth Williams and Kyle Williams. Jones presented the previous week qualifiers: Patridge, Marshall, Thompson, Owens, Guilloud, Gaines, Wade, Vest and Frye. i ,air M., I we Varsity athletes relax before the All-Sports banquet at the Silver Wings Club. 75 Andrea Logsdon was introduced as state qualifier and regional qualifier in girls track. Jenna Volcik, Robin Barrett, Lori Davis and Nora Carettini were named as regional qualifiers. Awards were also presented to the remainder of the team consisting oi Brown, Brandy Choate, Lynette Cordell, Julie Jaresh, Tammy Jaresh, Christina Kendrick, Logsdon, Monica Meadows, Miller, Brandee O'Mary, Paula Ratliff, Tobin, Theresa Ulmer, Volcik and Winters. Leigh Ann Winters and Robin Barrett were named most valuable players of girls basketball, and Tammy Jaresh was given the hustle award. Winters was named to all district first team and Barrett all district and area. Julie Jaresh was named all district honorable mention. Other awards presented were Laurie Al-Sabbagh, Julie Brown, Andrea Logsdon, Andrea Miller, Toni Miller, Janice Tobin, Jenna Volcik and, manager, Mary Wood. Following presentation of awards by coach Debbie Manley the team presented Mrs. Manley with a bouquet of red roses. Ricky Griffith received specia recognition for his outstanding pitchin and hitting by baseball coach Gary Clements. Clements presented awards to Arterburn, Ricky Browder, Frye, Graley, Griffith, Guilloud, Eric John- son, Thompson, Wade and Williams. Also special recognition to Shock and Ronnie Van Landingham of the B-team. Nora Carettini was named outstanding cheerleader by sponsor Carol Thomas. Other cheerleaders being recognized were Barrett, Shonna Martin, Andrea Miller, Toni Miller, Stephanie Robbins and Cardinal mascot Lynette Cordell. The cheerleaders presented all seniors with a senior statue. Debbie Manley presented awards to the drill team and introduced Annette Schmidt as strutter of the year. Other members are Denise Coffman, Tammy Fisher, Chessica Henderson, Monica Meadoss, Mindy Null, Lynete Pfeifer, Melissa Ragsdale and Molly Thompson. Fellowship of Christian Athletes officers were introduced by Joe Eastman. They are president Mark Guilloud, vice president Mary Wood, secretary-treasurer Gary Graley and publicity Eric Johnson and Andrea Miller.
