Adams, Xan Arnett, Lori Arterburn, Todd EIR EQREWEMES Kindergarten through twelfth. They survived it all. Those first doubtful moments when the alphabet was as confusing as hieroglyphics. Carefully plotting out the graph of a hyperbole. Learning that lines don't curve. Figuring out why the baby bunny was grey when both his parents were white. Learning how to form cursive letters. And trying to find out exactly what errors were. There were many hard times and many memorable ones. New teachers, new rules, new friends. Always there were changes. But the class of 1988 kept in touch and let the differences lie where they fell. As the end drew near, the exuberant it's almost over began to fade to teary and wondering do we really have to say goodbye?.', The closeness of the class had formed bonds that were going to be hard to break. Best friends were having to leave. Newly found companions had to say goodbye. There were college and jobs to think about now. Unrealized responsibilities seemed to surface from nowhere. The class of 1988 had finally grown up. The security blanket of knowing those four walls would always be there and knowing there would always be someone to talk to was slowly unraveling. The sureness of knowing what tomorrow was going to be wasn't there, and 58 teenagers had to step out the doors into the dark mystery of an adult world. But even after the last lockers were cleaned out and the lights of the high school were dimmed, there was a feeling of knowing that everything would be all right. Old classmates will see each other in the streets and not help but smile. That tie that binds will always be there. Ten years will pass, faces will change before some of them see each other again. But the hearts will always know that on that beautiful day years ago when 58 scared and crying young adults stepped across the threshhold, it wasn't the last goodbye, it was just the first farewell.
