.l.L. District For the 3rd straight year, Pottsboro High School dominated the'UlL district meet held at Grayson County College on March 26. Pottsboro participants racked in a total of 303 points while the remain- ing five schools in district 17AA scored a total of 309 points together. Howe scored 129 points alone. 'A Among the events in which PHS par- ticipated were feature, editorial, headlines, news, poetry, prose interpreta- tion, persuasive and informative speak- ing, debate, calculator applications, number sense, science, typing, short- hand, and spelling. Pottsboro had a total of 8 first place winners, 9 second, and 10 third place finishers. Those placing first through third place qualified to compete at regional level, held at Kilgore Junior College, April 11-12. Students attended other practice meets throughout the season including those held at Plano, Paris, Howe, and several at Wichita Falls High Schools. These meets helped to prepare par- ticipants for the district meet, which ob- viously paid off. At the regional meet, again the Car- dinals placed high in various events. 13 students advanced to state level, held in Austin, on April 26 and 27. Among the events advancing were the One Act Play, poetry, prose interpretation, persuasive and informative speaking, LD debate, and headlines. 94
