JV Football With two experienced players moving up to varsity, the junior varsity consisted of primarily freshmen players. Two of the J.V. starters moved to varsity were sophomores Jeff Cordell and Heath Webster. The Cardinals ended up the season with outstanding victories over Boyd and Princeton. This year was good ex- perience for the J.V. team whose best athletes will replace the graduating seniors. The team played well and were very cohesive through the year. Despite the fact that the team had many injuries, the team played good, consistent football. A. Mark Guilloud rolls out for a pass under heavy pressure. B. Cardinals warm up before a big game. C. Coach Eastman makes sure the J.V. stretch out properly before a game. D. Johnny Wood gets set for the opening kickoff. E. W3 AES NVQ. l! A winning season brought excitement for this years varsity team and 17-AA coach of the year, Timothy Short. They finished the season with an overall record of 21-8 and a district record of 9-1. ln district play the Cardinals seemed to over power all opponents with the dominant size of David Mclntire flst team all- districtl and strength of Randy Short tlst team all districtl and Hank Hudson on the inside. This was completely rounded off by sharp outside shooting from Wallace Lewis 12nd team all districtl. Another asset which helped the Cardinalls winning season was their playing experience. They had four senior starters along with Sophomore Jeff Cordell fhonorable men- tioni - who had no problem adjusting to the pace of Varsity ball. The finale of the season came when the Cards defeated the number one pre- season pick - Whitewright tigers in two consecutive games to win the district title. On top of that, this put the Cards in the top spot at bi-district. This yearls pefor- mance certainly proved that the 84-85 Cardinals are 41. A. Mclntire goes for 2. B. Short drives for an easy 2. C. Cordell gets high on 2. D. Hudson skies for 2. E. Lewis demonstrates his long range ability. F. Hud- son attempts a jumpshot. G. Lewis shows perfect shooting form. H.
