l Vs Improve Through Experience This year's IV boys basketball was a one ot improve- ment tor the team. Although the team was young and inexperienced they had an a trying season overall. Their record was 7-7. The team played in two tournaments taking second at Whitesboro and third in district with a 5-3 district record. Several players moved up to the varsity level at the end of the season. The leading scor- ers tor the IV team were Randy Short with a l3 point average and Wallace Lewis with a IO point average and Tim Perdue had an 8 point average. A. Girls Place 2nd At VA. The Pottsboro G-irl's Track team placed second be- hind Farmersville at the district meet, held at Van Al- styne. This year's team was dominated by underclass- men except for the two seniors, Melanie Short and Stacy Seat. First place finishers were the l600m relay consist- ing of lennifer Guilloud, Melanie Rhoades, Tammy Dut- ton, and Stacy Seat. Rhoades also ran away with a first in the 800m run. Second place finishers were Suzette Caylor in the 200m dash, Stacy Seat in the 400m dash, and the 400 and 800m relays composed of Guilloud, Elaine Mar- shall, Kelly Mitschele and Caylor. Marshall played sec- ond in the long jump and Angela Dillard in the shot put. Others placing at district were Shannan Seat, and Kim Rogers third and fifth in the l600rn run, respective- ly, Kelly Mitschele, fifth in the 200m dash, Stacy Seat, third and Shannan Seat, fourth in the 800m run, Steph- anie Haygood, fourth, Rogers, fifth, and Angie Morris, sixth in the 3200m run, Marshall, fourth in the triple jump, Dillard, third in the discus, and Short placed sixth in the discus and fourth in the shot put.
