3 Maintain 90 Average Throughout four years ot high school, only three 1983 seniors managed to keep a 90 or above average. Those three students were Lori Barnett, valedictoriang Laurie Hofmann, salutatoriang and Melanie Short. Lori has been active in UIL, placing second in short- hand at state as a junior and advancing to Regionals in Number Sense a year later. She was elected president ot NHS tor 1982-83. Laurie Hofmann, a two-year member ot NHS, has also been involved in UIL. She placed in district competition in typing as a sophomore. Melanie Short was a member ot NHS for two years also, elected secretary-treasurer as a senior. Melanie served as co-editor of the yearbook and as a basketball captain for 1982-83.

46 Receive Diplomas As graduation kept rolling closer and closer, many seniors were found looking forward with nervousness, high hopes, as well as thinking back with fond memories of their first days of school and their years of growing up. May 25th finally arrived and 46 seniors were lined up in the lobby of Grayson County College Auditorum ready to graduate. They were ushered into the building by Marty Ulmer, lennifer Short, Wes Kirby, and Camey Wright. Music was provided by Sandy Brown and Grant Teaff was the speaker for the occasion. Valedicto- rian Lori Barnett and Salutatorian Laurie Hofmann both received cash awards from the PTO. The PTO scholar- ship went to Greg Wright. Sherry Ballard was also pre- sented with the Guilloud Work Fellowship Award. A. Todd Williams awaits his turn to file in prior to graduation. B, Sherry Ballard recieves her diploma from Mr. Prindle.
