Varsity Girls End In Second Place Despite numerous injuries the Varsity Girls basketball team finished with an impressive district record of 2nd place and a season record of 14-11. Nagging injuries plagued the Varsity Girls basketball team with senior Shelly Shires ending up in the hospital with a foot infection. The team closed the first round of district play with a 5-4 record and 10-11 for the season. The girls compiled 308 total points during this round. Second round action ended with a 30-20 victory over the Van Alstyne Panthers. The Cards finished district play behind Lindsay with a 10-4 mark. A. ill gi Girls Win All-District Honors Junior Lori Peters led the scoring for the female Card's with an 8.2 average for the season and 7.5 district average, which earned her first team all-district honors. Other members of the district team were Sophomore Melanie Short, second teamg and Shires, honorable mention. Sophomore Janet Garrison had the second highest score, averaging 6.2 per game for the season and 6.5 in district. A.
