Varsity Girls End In Second Place Despite numerous injuries the Varsity Girls basketball team finished with an impressive district record of 2nd place and a season record of 14-11. Nagging injuries plagued the Varsity Girls basketball team with senior Shelly Shires ending up in the hospital with a foot infection. The team closed the first round of district play with a 5-4 record and 10-11 for the season. The girls compiled 308 total points during this round. Second round action ended with a 30-20 victory over the Van Alstyne Panthers. The Cards finished district play behind Lindsay with a 10-4 mark. A. th Graders Win District Title Many hours of strenuous workouts, athletic ability, and traditional team spirit were leading factors in winning the seventh grade football district Co- Championship. 1977 was the last year a Pottsboro seventh grade team won this title.
