Pottsboro Wins Sweepstakes Trophy Despite the absence of debate teams and speaking groups, the Pottsboro UIL literary team won second in district competition held at Grayson County College. Ten students advanced to Regional competition and three continued to State competition in Austin, in the literary meet. Although the literary and athletic event awards went to other schools, Pottsboro pulled ahead with its high overall score in the Spring District meet. PHS won the sweepstakes trophy with a total of 246 overall points. Lindsay High School finished second. The literary trophy was earned by Lindsay, whose cumulative score was lowered by the lack of athletic points. Van Alstyne received the athletic award but added only 10 points in the literary competition. Winning the sweepstakes trophy emphasized that PHS puts equal stress on literary and athletic programs, stated Frank Prindle, principal. A.
