Determination ls Key to Being Cheerleader Determination could be the key leading to the 1980-81 JV Cheerleaders' success. From the beginning of the school year they have displayed a winning spirit. During the summer the squad attended camp at Austin College in Sherman, where they received Grand Champion honors. In individual awards, Janet Garrison was named as All-Star Cheerleader. Summer camp gave the cheerleaders the knowledge and winning attitude needed to promote spirit. From painting posters to selling football programs on Friday nights, the cheerleaders have shown determination in their support of the Cardinals. A. Cheerleaders Back Cards Through 123 Events Cardinal cheerleaders led the various sports teams through 123 events, pepping up lagging spirits and praising the teams who finished victorious. The squad also participated at the drill team's spring show, performing one of the routines learned at summer camp. The hard work was made worthwhile and the teams, appreciation for the cheerleaders was expressed to the girls when they were presented with long stemmed red roses at the last pep rally. The flowers, presented by varsity football captain John Lewis, were a gift of thanks for support and devotion to the Cardinals. A. Kelly Fox portrays her enthusiasm at the S8:S football game. B. Cheerleaders Gain New Experience JV Cheerleaders have successfully led their football team to a winning season. Through their dedication and support they have displayed the spirit of true Cardinals. Even though half of the squad was young and inexperienced, they performed and supported the team admirably.
