PTO Carnival Proves .1 ,J ' F' Big Success Spooks, goblins, apple bobbing, and small children with candy were seen around the gym on Saturday October 25. It was the site for the PTO's annual Halloween Carnival. Spectators held their breath hoping to be the lucky winner of 10 gallons of gas, a case of oil, or a cuddly stuffed animal. This .8 M was only half the excitement as participants also took part in the different games played on the midway. The booths varied from a hospital manned by the Junior High Student Council, to a group of FHA students sponsoring a cake walk. But soon, all the fun ended and people were leaving. Booths were taken apart and decorations torn off of the walls. After the floor was swept the last helium balloon fell from the ceiling and the lights were turned off. The Carnival grossed 86,000 along with 385 new PTO pledges. Proceeds from this event will be used to help students and school organizations. A. Leah Deaton, Tom Ceci, and Lee Brown help out at the Sophomore Animal Walk. B. Kelly White and Joel Thompson take careful aim at the Freshman Pop Gun Booth. C. Dawn Lewis, Lori Peters, and Stacy Logsdon add chills, thrills, and excitement to the Junior Spook House.

Dance Concludes Homecoming Activities Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet would have been overwhelmed at the romantic atmosphere at the Homecoming Dance in the gym after the defeat of the Tom Bean Tom Cats, 38-0. Once inside it was almost impossible not to become excited and get out on the floor and dance to the music from the KDSX discjockey. The dance was hosted by the Varsity Cheerleaders and Mrs. Ann Williams, sponsor A. Leah Wilson and Gale Foxall anxiously await their dates' return with refreshments. B. Dwayne Williams and Camey Wright enjoy slow dancing with their respective partners. C. Susan Mollenhour and Casey Perkins take time out from the dance to smile for the camera. Junior High Students Demonstrate Leadership Junior High . . . A stage of life where students increase their ability to learn and prepare themselves for the big new world which waits impatiently ahead. Even though crowded, overflowing halls and classrooms were problems which made the days unbearably long, students at Pottsboro Junior High worked together in forming a friendly atmosphere with fellow students and teachers during the 1980-81 school year. Students participated in many events during the year including student council, the PTO Carnival royalty contest, a class field trip to Sherman to hear three state candidates and also a trip to the Sam Rayburn Library in Bonham. Other activities included a UIL contest at Austin college in April and a poster contest for a chili supper sponsored by the student council. Several Junior High students spent the year in anticipation of a summer trip to Washington D.C. being coordinated by Mrs. Willa Dean Smith. A. Gary Day and Kim Rice, 8th graders, were crowned King and Queen of the PTO Royalty contest. B. Angie Anderson, 7th grader, proudly displays her award winning chili supper poster. C. Terry Sturgill and Lisa Love, Sth graders, perform a skit during the student council campaign. ilOwDy.0 - s-'hai' 'Qu S I ks 't' S Uh v V 'Y Q 2 ljls Thr, BLU 'Hou lug, ig?
