a 'T 'llTf' l Eight Varsity Girls Advance to Regional ' 2' The PHS Varsity Girls Track season came to a disappointing end at the regional track meet as none of the members qualified for the state meet. The 1600 meter relay members including Glenda Thurston, Susan Tucker, Rhonda Thompson and Shelly Shires ran their best time of the season, but still finished fifth in the finals. The 800 meter relay team consisting of Thompson, Shires, Thurston, and Becky Smithon were disqualified due to the jumping of lanes. Stacy Seat finished 8th in both the 1600 meter and the 800 meter runs. Thurston also finished 5th in the 100 meter hurdles after qualifying with the third fastest time. The graduating members of the team are: Kelly Fratto, Shelly Shires and Kelly Fox. - 'Q A. 4 Tracksters Place First For the first time since 1975, the Varsity boy's track team won the district championship. The mile relay team of Keith Gaines, John Lewis, Casey Perkins, and Darrell White won first place. Other district first place wins were recorded by Philip Burks, pole vaultg Perkins, 400 m. dashg and Mark Price, high jump. Placing second were Lewis, 800 m. rung Jamie Johnson, 100 and 200 m. dashes, Barney Frazier, shot put and discusg and Perkins tied for second in the pole vault. Coach Bill Crenshaw led the teams. A. Troy l-lasten takes a whirlpool after track workout. B. Senior members of the track team receive the District 14-AA trophy. C. Casey Perkins and Philip Burks acquire second and first place in the district for pole vaulting. D. Greg Wright throws the discus at the district meet. E. Mark Price warms up for the high jump while student teacher Kevin Weaver looks on. F. Bobby Flanagan runs the 330 intermediate hurdles. G.
