Varsity Boys Finish District 14-0 ,,, This year's Varsity Boys Basketball team won the 14- AA district championship with two perfect 7-0 rounds. This is the first Varsity Boys Basketball district championship since 1973. This year's team was coached by Don Hudson, who in three years at Pottsboro changed the Varsity into a winning team. Hudson was recognized for his efforts by being selected Coach of the Year for District 14-AA. On the court, Senior Mark Price led the Cardinals as he averaged 21 points per game and had 340 rebounds in the season. Price was first team all-district and an all- region selection. He also had the honor of being selected to play in the Texas High School Coaches All-Star Jr basketball game during the summer. ls Other all-district selections for the team include Senior Bobby Flanagan and Junior Dwayne Williams, both second team picks and Keith Bates, honorable mention. Prior to district play, the Cardinals played in three it y tournaments. The first was at Savoy, where Pottsboro 'if'e .1 lost by one point in the final game to place second. The at Dam f k Cardinals easily got to the finals in the Whitesboro sl im tourney, where they beat the home team, 44-40 for the tourney victory.
