We started our Junior year with twelve students Two were new students from Dimondale They were Jackie and Marlene Britton but they left us at the end of the first semester to move to Lansing On Frbruary 16, we had a dance, the music being played by Marshall Klng's Orchestra of Lansing On March 28, we presented our Junior Play ' Girls Are Lyke That Also in the spring we gave the Seniors a banquet. lhe class officers are President Donald Gilbert, Vice President Nan Mlshler, Secretary Barbara Bare Treasurer Victor Morrissey' Advxsor Miss Orner Sophomore Class History The officers for this year were President, Frances Helnze, Vice President, Norma Bashore, Treasurer, Carole Coolman, Secretary, Barbara Drewyor Advisor, Mr Lo Patln Our class consists of twenty four members We were traditionally initiated bythe Sophomores at an evening party on October 6, 1950 We were advised to come dressed as specified or face the consequences So we dld as we were told We earned some money by having a popularity contest We presented the winners Janette Crandell and Don Brown with flowers at the Christmas party We gave the Sophomores a return party We started our Sophomore year with twenty four members Margy Nlsse, Harriet Survin and Gary Whiting were new students this year Donna Harmon, and Kenneth Ellworths left in t e middle of the year We were also saddened by the death of Kathryn Wickham Eltnlear Secretary Barbara Drewyor Treasurer, Harriet Durbin. I As the custom is, we gave the Freshmen an lnltlatlon party They dressed as they were directed and received tomatoes and cooked macaroni as they passed through a darkened hall The Sophomores were in charge of an assembly program in which they all took part. They put on a skit, Christmas With the Kettles Julia Brown and Francis Helnze were the main characters Freshman Class History The Freshman Class began the year with twenty four members which ft sustained throughout the year The class officers were President Valdls Leipens Vice President Roger Page Treasurer Shirley Whiting Secretary Larry Backus and Class Advisor Mr John Lathers The class endured two appendectomy cases, Martha Kruger and Shirley Whitxng plus the ever traditional Freshman Initiation given by the Sophomores on the evening of October 5, 1951 All Freshmen attended dressed as directed with the exception of Valdls Leipens who came armed with a water pistol. Everyone had a wonderful time We're planning a return party to be given sometime during March or April In an attempt to earn money we sponsored a popularity contest. The results were rather poor To complicate matters further, Marlene Britton the would be Queen of the contest moved away The class will probably have to reopen the contest and declare a new winner 17 . , l . . . h The officers fdr our class were: President, Roderick Steiner, Vice President, Roy I . 3 9 - 3 - s - .
