Prof. of physical education, was born in Keyser. She has served PSC for 23 years, coming to the campus in 1953. Prof. Rafter has the distinction of having taught every female student on the campus for most of those 23 years - and many of the male students in and out of the usual physical education classes, as in ballroom dancing and crafts. But she was more than a teacher: she trained the cheerleaders for many years and took them, often at her own expense, to events throughout the East, she was faculty advisor for Sigma Iota Chi Sorority for many years, she was advisor for the WAA for her entire tenure, and in her role with physical edu- cation and health classes, she advised countless young men and women during their troubles. Ms. Rafter has traveled extensively in this country and in Europe. Her memberships include numerous professional societies and many campus commit- tees. She has been loyal and dedicated, and will long be remembered by everyone at Potomac State Col- lege.
