K at vm iitilx -,P -K if ISABELLA ROLLS CLIFFORD Thirty Two Years of Service 1938-1970 ,F ... Isabella Rolls Clifford Mrs. Isabella Rolls Clifford, Known to thousands of students, faculty members, townfolks, and friends as Isabella, or Miss Isabellaw, had with dignity and grace served Potomac State College for thirty-two years. The twinkle in her eyes, and her pert smile, has enabled many a student to start the day in an optimistic mood. In turn, most students greeted Isabella every morning with Good morning! Isabella! or Hi! Isabellall' and she, too, would smile in return. At graduation time, Miss Isabella often stood on the side lines and witnessed the graduates march past, and there is little doubt she was proud of the role she played in the lives of the many graduates. With due respect and gratitude, the staff of the 1970 Catamount proudly dedicates this book, in part, to faithful Isabella Rolls Clifford, who will always be Miss Isabellal' to us. mf DR. TODD H. BULLARD ,qD7,E5.iC!El2f JAMES T. HANDLAN Egan 18 U65 Qgzaaicfanfls .snags A New Decade, the theme of this yearbook, reminds us not only of the passage of time, but also of the implied promise of change in the years of the seventies. Certainly the l96O,s brought profound dislocation and change to much of American society. The seventies beckon with uncertain meaning. So far as Potomac State College is concerned, the new decade undoubtedly signals renewed efforts to define the purposes and nature of higher education and to devise strategies to achieve new levels of insight. We shall need to investigate many of our assumptions regarding why and how particular things are learned. We may conclude, faculty and students alike, that new times require different approaches to education. For all of us then, the seventies promise challenge and rational response at Potomac State College. As you peruse this Catamount, I hope you find much that reminds you of worthy effort and significant ideals. I hope, too, that as you look back to 1969-70, you will find intimations of a future bright with hope and signs of educational effort appropriate to a new decade. V .ng Q
