Q 'ta i ERVIN LESLIE DAYTON 'ii Thirty Three Years of Service 1937-1970 ,,,,..w gy Ervin Leslie Dayton Professor Ervin Leslie Dayton, known to thousands of students and friends as Ikey , has been an integral part of Potomac State College for thirty-seven years. He literally beat the brush for students for this college in his early days, and he has witnessed the gradual growth of this educational institution from a small school to a somewhat complex campus. lkey has taught economics to many and given his students an insight into the fabulous world of Wall Street. He has served very well and willingly on numerous committees, and for many years was the extremely capable advisor to Theta Sigma Chi fraternity. It is a compliment to Mikey to say, Those who did not have him as a teacher had only a partial education. He gladly taught, and he served with devotion. The staff of the 1970 Catamount proudly dedicates this book, in part, to a gentleman, a teacher, and a devoted husband - Ervin Leslie Dayton. VIOLA UMSTOT LOUGH Twenty Seven Years of Service 1943-1970 Viola Umstot Lough Since teams have been all-important to Coach Lough's career, it is appropriate to mention the other member ofhis personal team, his wife Viola, known to her friends as Vi, and to thousands of students as Mrs. Lough. She has always been the Coachis most loyal and devoted fan, experiencing all the trials of competition, suffering with him in defeat and rejoicing with him in victory. During World War ll, Vi was practically catapulted into two widely different fields of service to Potomac State College: that of preceptress of one wing of Davis Hall occupied by girls, and the more arduous one of school dietician. Needless to say, she served in both capacities with distinction. ln 1945, the duty of preceptress was terminated, and Mrs. Loughis full time was devoted to the successful management of the dining hall, and to serving of delicious, well-balanced meals to resident students and staff members. We, the members of the Catamount staff, express the gratitude and congratulations of thousands of students to this noble and proud team of Dana tllorsej Lough and his team mate, Vi. We thank them for their many years of service to our college, and we proudly dedicate this 1970 Catamount, in part, to Viola Umstot Lough. , Ulalfq ' in fi by t ri im W i rpz .... 2 4 . K at vm iitilx -,P -K if ISABELLA ROLLS CLIFFORD Thirty Two Years of Service 1938-1970 ,F ... Isabella Rolls Clifford Mrs. Isabella Rolls Clifford, Known to thousands of students, faculty members, townfolks, and friends as Isabella, or Miss Isabellaw, had with dignity and grace served Potomac State College for thirty-two years. The twinkle in her eyes, and her pert smile, has enabled many a student to start the day in an optimistic mood. In turn, most students greeted Isabella every morning with Good morning! Isabella! or Hi! Isabellall' and she, too, would smile in return. At graduation time, Miss Isabella often stood on the side lines and witnessed the graduates march past, and there is little doubt she was proud of the role she played in the lives of the many graduates. With due respect and gratitude, the staff of the 1970 Catamount proudly dedicates this book, in part, to faithful Isabella Rolls Clifford, who will always be Miss Isabellal' to us.
