DEDICATION Ma-umff Helen Clare Criner In 1947, there was added to the faculty of Potomac State College of West Virginia University a most able and efficient personality, Miss Helen Clare Criner, who has served the college in turn as Instructor in the Commerce Department, as Assistant Registrar, and since 1964 as Registrar. Her training at West Virginia University and the University of Pittsburgh, where she received the B.S. and M.L. degrees respectively, and her experience in high school and college teaching prior to her coming to Potomac State College fitted her admirably for the arduous duties she assumed at the college, for until 1966 she combined some teaching with her service as Assistant Registrar and later as Registrar. Miss Criner's record at Potomac State College has been one of untlagging devotation and loyalty to the college' and the students who comprise it. Her office is always open and her services are available to prospective students and their parents for consultation, and her time and help are unseltishly given to students with credit problems who are invited to seek her assistance in resolving such difficulties. Her ability and efficiency are known far beyond the limits of the local college community, and she is most highly regarded in professional and collegiate circles throughout the state of West Virginia. ' The members of the Catamount Staff, aware of the indebtedness of the college as a whole and of the individual students to Miss Criner and grateful for her interest in the academic progress of all the students, are honored to dedicate this volume of the Catamount to a good friend, an excellent teacher, and a valued administrator, Miss Helen Clare Criner. 16

Acting Presidents Message A college yearbook illustrates, better than any other medium, changes in our time. The student body changes each year: new buildings -A this year the new academic building -- begin to take form and add to the changing complex of the campusg new programs develop with transfer and technical studies illustrating changing con- ditions, changing interests and changing values. Within this constant pattern of change. it is hoped that the intrinsic values which have ever marked the spirit of Potomac State College will remain with those of you who some years hence will review once more this fine record of 1968-1969.
