Dubois THE CHURCH-McKEE ARTS CENTER The Church-McKee Arts Center, constructed and equipped at a cost of approximately Sl,400,000, was made possible through combined State and Federal funds. During groundbreaking ceremonies March 22, 1966, Mrs. Gilbert S. Bachmann, a member of the Board of Governors of West Virginia University, remarked that the building will be a promise to today's students,a promise to tomorrow,s students, and an expression of the State's faith in Potomac State College. As construction got underway, President Todd H. Bullard spoke of the college's realizing a long cherished ambition to provide the institution with the means of stimulating increased cultural and aesthetic appreciation among its students'f The Church-McKee Arts Center is truly a multi-pur- pose building. The auditorium provides not only seating for nearly 1,000 persons, a generous size stage, dressing rooms and supporting areas for dramatics, and a three-bay projection area for visual aids, but has movable partitions which enable the auditorium area to be divided into four large classrooms. Future plans call for the use of closed cir- cuit television in conjunction with a new academic build- ing scheduled for completion in 1969. The arts wing contains studios, classrooms, and offices for music and art. Robert J. Bennett, Morgantown, was architect for the building. Mellon-Stuart Company, Pittsburgh, was general contractor.
