M pfzed ' enlld, Meuaqe Dr. Ernest E. Church Last. year we-students. instructors. the administration-were on trial. lt was the first full post-war year on the campus. VVould we be able to convert thus quickly to the demands of doubled enrollments with the inevitable accompanying problems? Vile think the answer was in the affirmative. This year we are still on trial. XVere the successes of last. year only temporary-a flash in the pan? Perhaps itfs too early to answer with finality, but we belieye we know what the answer will be. ln these times of great change. inevitable change, times of high enrollments. high ideals. high prices and high tensions, we are happy that Potomac State has maintained a sense of Values and has kept the things that count in their accustomed places. Near the top of the list of things that count is the Cataniount. This is Volume X. Not so old, but old enough that its birth was recorded in the pre-war years and with an unbroken record of publication. an unbroken record of achievement and increasing excellence. Students and staffs of other years have done well. VVe expect that this year new heights will be attained. You will record significant events from the present that the future may know of the past. To a loyal and enthusiastic student. body. to the hard working and efficient staff and sponsors of the 1948 Catamount we offer our sincere and humble, thank you. E. E. CHURCH, President
