Lough An integral part of the academic and extra-curricular activities of Potomac State School is the sports program. Too often the success of this department is measured by mere statistics of games won and lost. Too frequently trivialities of the moment obscure lasting accom- plishments. A coach inculcates in the minds and hearts of athletes the ennobling qualities of sportsmanship, fair play, cooperation, lead- ership, and disciplined living. The CATAMOUNT Staff honors in dedication Coach Dana G. Lough. His successful tutelage has developed winning athletic teams, Which, in turn, have brought recognition to the college. As a result of these accomplishments, a deeper loyalty is engendered in the student body toward the Alma Mater. ' Y. Sigma pfzi Umeqa Since 15123. Sigma Phi Omega has held an honored position on the campus of Potomac State School. The fraternity aims to fulfill its purpose of fostering scholarship and campus leadership. As Sigma Phi Omega draws its membership from all campus soci- eties. it is fitting that it should sponsor the two annual student convo- cations, now traditional on the campus. that honor Potomac State's organizations and their representatives. This year, at the First assembly after the opening of school, the society presented the eighth annual Know Your Organizations program to the new students. This pro- gram, in which all campus organizations participate, acquaints the Freshmen with the history. aims, and personnel of said organizations. The companion program, the last one of the year. reviews their achieve- ments and the honors won by their members. In addition to these two programs, Sigma Phi Omega holds itself in readiness to render any service required by the school. In the spring. its annual banquet honoring new members provides a highlight of the year-end activities.
