QQ, ta salma ir s M ssa Again the Catamount has recorded for us the significant pictures of a busy college year and has preserved memories and recollections that time might efface. Activities of individuals and organizations will be more vivid in our yesteryears because of the record written here. It has been a significant year-a year when new occasions have taught new duties. lt has been a year when old records have fallen and many changes have been wrought. The troops of the American Armed Forces have become the troops of the college campus. In such numbers have they come that corridors. classrooms, laboratories and residence halls have been overflowed. New courses. new instructors and new ideas have been required to cope with this unprecedented invasion. A greater degree of cooperation and of understanding of common problems has been required on the part of both faculty and students. Through all of this newness. certain standards and traditions have been maintained. Prominent in this list is The Catamount. continuing its service on a constantly higher level. To the staff of the Cataniount, and its sponsors, we express our debt. of gratitude and our appreciation for their unflagging zeal. loyalty and superior accmmmplishment. E. E. Church President

A large increase in enrollment. due to the advent of the G. 1. on the campus. a revised curriculum. enlargement of the faculty. the beginning of an extensive building program, and an increase in the tempo of athletics and social activities have been a challenge to all of us. It is gratifying to observe that through patience and diligence we have been able for the most part to meet successfully this challenge and to adjust ourselves to our personal and group relationships.
