The coronation and festivities were held on May 9. The Players, under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth A. Atwater, gave a dramatization, while the Singers, directed by Mr. Leonard Withers, contributed several beautiful vocal selections. Miss lane Hesse directed the Women's Athletic Association in a colorful May Pole dance. Eighteen neighboring high schools were invited to send a boy and a girl representative to participate in the ceremony. The evening following the coronation, a colorful Queens Ball was held in the gymnasium, with music by the Diplomats of Martinsburg. T 77'? '7f

Honoring Miss Roberta Spangler, the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi, the Phi Sigma Nu fraternity and Sigma Epsilon Chi sorority held their second dance of the school year, the Shamrock Shag, on March 22. Amidst green and white decorations, and surrounded by giant Irish shamrocks, lack Platt and his Blue and White Orchestra played for the dancing couples. Following the eighth dance, Miss Spangler was introduced, to those in attendance, as the Sweetheart', by Dean Kirkland S. McKee. The selection of the one to receive the honor was determined by a school wide poll. ED EN FGDERM Ei Theta Sigma Chi held its annual Spring Formal on April 18 in the college gym. The dance honored Miss Marjorie White, who was selected by the faculty to represent Potomac State at the eighteenth annual Winchester Apple Blossom Festival May 1 and 2. Iohn Laugh- lin and his orchestra played for the occasion. The hall was novelly decorated to represent ll ship's ballroom, and as the guests entered onto the floor, they climbed the gangplang, at the end of which they were greeted by a sailor who presented them their programs. The programs were patterned after a ship's log book. The affair was the most successful fraternity dance of the school year.
