Junwr Qflass Dlag Ai:-in If V1 Z' J CALL IE DARLING The Haskins family is all a dither because they are expecting momentarily the return of their only son, Billy, who through his heroic exploits during a shipwreck has become a national figure 'hen the whole town has turned out to welcome Billy, his easy going, homeless pal, Cornelius 'Neeleyn Crum is mistaken for the hero Neeley receives the cheers and adulation, until the Haskins family appears to straighten out the error, but not until Pamela Payne, the college reporter has whispered to Virginia, Bil1y's one time sweetheart, about Neeley's fwhom she believes tc be Billy! amorous inclinations Complications pile one on top of the other when a local filling station is held up, Pamela elopes, and poor Billy is suspected in both cases Neeleg turns up with two hun dred dollars, the exact amount taken in t e hold up Pop Haskins and emitty, the maid are drawn into the misunderstanding, and Billy concludes that a hero's role is not all that it should be However, in the end Billy is exonerated and wins the girl of his choice, Neeley is adopted by one of the tcwn's most exalted citi- zens, and the Haskins family once more baske in the reflected glory of THE HERO.
