The basketball record for the year 1S as follows SPORTS Basketball Basketball practlce started ln October under the coachlng of Ty Franklm Twenty flVe boys reported forthe basketball season Some of these boys had prevlous experience on the Hlgh School and Grade School teams The Arteslans got off to a slow start by loslng seven games ln a row but then thelr luck changed erabllng them to XVIII flV6 out of the next s1x games Potomac lost several games xn the hnal seconds of play by very close scores The Arteslan Reserve team complled a very good record for xtself by wmmng two-thlrds of the games played some of these belng won 1n the flnal seconds Th1s may be attrlbuted to the good ball playlng of the boys who could rem a1n calm and collected ln those tense morrents enabllng them to get that necessary basket when needed The 51 and 52 season afforded the last opportunlty for senlors Cllfford Kxtchen Tom jameson Prank Recd and Robert 'Nlorfey to play lllgh School basketball Chff Kxtchen led the team 1n scormg Tom Jameson was a very aggressxve ball handler and was also able to fmd the hoop qulte often thls bemg partxcul lrly true at the close of the Armstrong game Frank Heed who saw less actlonthan some of the boys was always ln there scrappmg every opportunlty possxble Robert Norfey saw llttle actlon but was always Wllllng to put all he had lnto the game Bud Sollars enrolled ln school early ln the flrst semester enabllng hlm to be elxglble for second semester competltxon Wxth the return of lettermen Bud Sollars ,lack Esworthy B111 Hoskms Lowell Beck Dale Berry and supplemented by members of the up and comlng Reserve Team Potomac is looking forward to a good 52 53 season.
