High School Mixed Chorus The Poteau High School Choral Club, under the direction of Mrs. Nell Hoyle, had an interesting year. To be- gin with, we elected our officers for the lst semester: President -- Kathleen Pearson Vice-President -- Kay Hughey Secretary-Treasurer -- Carol Hardin Librarians -- Wanda Chandler, Barbara Qualls, Sue Pearson Reporter -- Louise Burden Our initial program was the National Education Week Pageant, which was presented in the high school auditor ium for all friends and parents of our school. Next, we attended the State Thanksgiving Festival, directed by Roger Wagner, at Stillwater. We returned from this in time to sing for the Union Thanksgiving Service at the First Baptist Church. Then came the Christmas Pageant, for which we supplied the music and narration. And again, it was time to elect the officers for the very busy second semester: President -- Linda Midgley Vice-President -- Kay Hughey Secretary-Treasurer -- Carol Hardin Librarians -- Wanda Qualls, Joyce Pappas Reporter -- Wanda Chandler We were justifiably proud of the ten members of our glee club selected to attend the All State Clinic-Festival at Norman, and we wish everyone of us could have gone, because of the many interesting things they learned about music, In March, the time came for the annual Eastern Oklahoma Festival, which we look forward to every year. In addition to preparing the music, we were in charge of arranging committees to plan the Festival. Choral groups from all over Eastern Oklahoma were directed by the very capable Warner Imig, Head of the Music De- partment of the University of Colorado at Boulder. Next, we attended the District Contest at Wilburton, Oklahoma. And last, but not by any means least, on April 22, we gave our annual concert, which we enjoyed presenting very much. The glee club had a trio, composed of Wanda Chandler,l, Glenda Metcalf,,Dand Linda Midgley, which sang for the football banquet and such civic organizations as the Rotary Club, the Kiwanis Club, and the Garden Club. It was a busy year, but we had loads of fun.
