Portsmouth Cigf School Board The termination of the war has brought to American educators and school boards throughout the nation, the privilege of teaching the present and future generations the essential elements needed in building a program of permanent world peace. The schools of today will determine the citizens of tomorrow and the responsibility of efficient administration in the local school system rests with the Board of Education. Public endeavor requiring patience, intelligent judgment, and ever vigilant devotion to the improvement of educational facilities for the youth of Portsmouth has been uppermost in the mind of each school board member. Two retiring members, Mr. Arthur D. Lynn and Dr. S. E. Moorhead, served faithfully and well. The new members, Mrs. Charles S. Baker and Mr. Thomas A. Shackleford, are well aware of their duties and are to be highly commended. Mr. Glen C. West, Superintendent of Schools Mr. Glen C. West fpage 8 Q is completing his hrst year as Superintendent of Portsmouth City Schools. He holds two degrees-B. S. from Ohio University and M. A. from Columbia University. Mr. West is a veteran of World War I, having served overseas with the 83rd Division. His wide experience in the State C Ohio j Department of Education as Executive Assistant to the Director of Education and Supervisor of Guidance is proving to be of great value to the Portsmouth School System.
