'7 ' 76,02 Students walk up the gangplanks, teachers get their pilot instructions, the anchor is hauled on board, and we embark again on the big ship as school begins on September 9. Trojans practice once a day now instead of twice daily-school must be a blessing to some people! Freshmen are taught new football yells, and echoes of Yea, Trojans resound through the halls . . . After a hectic week of anxiety and suspense the new band uniforms arrive for almost everyone but Dick Bauer. Those outfits of blue and red, with a military cut, add greatly to the color and enjoyment of the football games . . . By the way, thanks, Trojans, for your 32-O victory over Columbus East. Gardner, Tierney, Russell, and Fultz are elect- ed class officers. Sounds as if we're going to hear El Rancho Grande from the Spanish classes all this year, too . . . An inquisitive senior asks Mr. Melick how many elements haven't been discovered yet! , . . Free Echoes as Echo and Trojan cam- paigns begin-a lot of readin' for Sl.8O- Durham lads give the Trojans some of that southern punch, and we lose, 21-O. Padded cover or unpadded? That's what a lot of minds are pondering as Trojan campaign warms up and third week of school begins . . . Miss DuPuy finally breaks down after three years and consents to take the peppiest of all peppy home rooms, 201, on a picnic to Lake Roosevelt, and what do you know--rain almost spoiled it! . . . Mr. Stewart puts five exclama- tion points after that long awaited statement- The history work-books are in ! ! l !l . . . Period of torture for prospective G. A. Cfs begins- white dresses, braided hair, long black stock- ings, and-initiation! hm! . . . The sinks in Chemistry lab leak through the desk drawers!! . . . Lots of girls jumpin' around in jumpers and jerkin' on jerkins as new fashions make their appearance in school . . .
