i 1938 - Sehooly Begin Second Century This year inarks the passing of a 'ieentury of free public schools in the city ot' l'ortsn1outh. For one hun- dred years the cluldren of this vienn- ty have been able to enjoy the ad- vantages and to reap the profits of a liberal education. lfroni the tirst one-room school, held in the old Seminary, the educational system has progressed until today we have one of the largest in southern Ohio. Nine elementary schools send 300 or more students to high school each year. lfroiu the sinall building with one teacher, our sehool has grown to the present large building with a faculty ot 59 well- trained instructors. Xliith this growth in popula- tion, the extra curricular activities have also grown in popularity and value.
