Senior girls capture fall czfhleiic rifle Cool fall days are ideal for feminine outdoor sports, as well as for foothall, and more girls than ever lmefore are now taking part in the peppy game of field hockey. Iiach class is represented hy a large and en- thusiastic squad from which Miss Charlotte Hell, girls' athletic instructor, has heen ahle to select four line teams. .Xdded interest was manifested in the contests when it was announced that the winning team would represent the high school in a post-season game against an alumni group, composed of stars of former teams. The seniors' technique developed slowly. hut hecame more coordinated as the season advanced, and. despite the individually hrilliant junior at- tack. their superior team work and hetter defense made them the season's winners. liy defeating the alumni team in a close game. the seniors Seniors Ca ho V e l 2 liront Row: ll. Stick 'em up 28 showed the value of good coaching. comhined with a willingness to co-operate. The juniors, led hy the dashing, aggressive jo-jo Rickey, showed promise. hut were Finally heaten hy the superior team work of the seniors in the deciding game. 'l'he more inexperienced freshman squad was large and enthusiastic, and guarantees a continued interest in the sport, and the sophomores. al- though they had some very good players. did not have enough unity to defeat the more practiced upper class teams. The most outstanding players were lftta 'lane Gims, Kuna Lee Neal, jo-jo Rickey, and Rose- mary Adams. Etta jane was the senior center. ,Io-.lo was swift and gained her junior team many points and victories, and Rosemary was another small, hut efficient player. Her spunk,
